rULES AND EXPLANATION

This collector’s item is also being made custom this year.  It will be ready hopefully by your first visit. But….Challenge coins indicate membership in something important, and there are rules that govern them. Playing the game by throwing down a challenge with a coin is something with which every coin owner should be familiar. The rules of the game should be given or explained to everyone given a coin. It’s rude to call out a challenge if you haven’t broken down the way it works ahead of time.

SO HERE ARE THE RULES:

• MEMBERS are expected to carry their Coins at all times to Gunwhale’s taproom, and challenges can be called out at any time. If not directly on your peson when challenged, you can only take four steps in order to reach your coin. Otherwise you have lost the challenge.

• A “Coin Check” consists of a challenge and response.  It is initiated by either holding your coin in the air, or putting on the table/bartop.

• The challenger must clearly state whether the challenge is for one drink or a round of drinks for all challenged.

• If the person challenged fails to produce the coin, the challenge must be honored, and drinks must be purchased. Each person can only be challenged once.

• If everyone who is challenged manages to produce a coin, the challenger is on the hook to buy the drinks. Be careful of who you challenge.

• Never hand someone else a coin in response to a challenge. Doing so is the same as giving the person the coin. The coin can be placed on the table, and anyone who wants to examine it is honor-bound to return it to its original location.

• If you lose your coin, you’re responsible to replace it as soon as you possibly can. Losing your coin doesn’t absolve you from responsibility to follow the rules of the game. In other words, you’re buying a lot of drinks if you lose it.  Reach out to us, and we will discuss a replacement, but any cost will be passed on to you.

• There are zero exceptions to these rules. They apply whether you’re wearing clothes or not, so think ahead. Remember, you’ve got four steps to get within arm’s reach of your coin.

• A challenge coin is a coin. It’s not a belt buckle or bracelet or necklace, so don’t use it like one. The exception is for coins that are carried in a pouch around the neck. You may not drill holes in your coin.

• You must control your coin at all times. It indicates honor, so you shouldn’t give it to just anyone.

• These rules apply to anyone worthy to be given a coin, anyone who’s known to own a coin, and anyone who buys a coin.

Whalers Club Membership and benefits are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Whalers Club memberships run for a calendar year from January 1 to December 31. We will email you to remind you of your renewal. It will be your responsibility to renew your membership. Current Whalers Club members will have first right to renew membership before open enrollment occurs. If you fail to do so, your spot will be forfeited.

Discounts may only be applied to member's order only (regardless of party size). Whalers Club discounts cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts.

Gunwhale management reserves the right to change the terms and benefits of the mug club at any time. Members will be notified of any such changes via email.

Gunwhale management reserves the right to revoke a club membership, without refund, due to refusal to observe appropriate Gunwhale Taproom policies or CA ABC laws including those regarding public intoxication.

Please know that while we've spent a great deal of time building this club membership, this will inevitably be a work in progress. Release dates and additional details will need to be worked out, but know that we're looking to build this into an incredibly creative and rewarding membership program. We would love your feedback on it throughout the year as well.
